See what’s coming this fall!

Fall Kick Off

Sunday September 10th

Don’t forget!  That’s the Sunday our regular worship schedule resumes:  8:00 am – Traditional Service, 9:15 am – time of Learning & Fellowship, 10:30 am – Modern Service.  Plan to join us in between worship services, at 9:15 am, in the Fellowship Hall, for a time of fellowship AND a time to find out what Bible Studies and other exciting things will be happening this year.  You’ll have a chance to talk to some of the leaders and to have your questions answered.  Of course, no Lutheran gathering would be complete without food so we will be asking everyone to bring their favorite breakfast casserole or food item to share.  Also, parents will be able to meet our new Children’s Director and to find out about our children’s and youth programs.  Parents can also sign the Sunday School registration forms and avoid the long lines on the first week of Sunday School.  During the 10:30 Modern Service, our Sunday School teachers; our Youth Pastor (Tab) and our new Director of Children’s Ministries (Sarah Howard) will be commissioned.  It’s going to be a great day!  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone!

Sunday Church Chat

Come Chat With Us

Beginning Sunday, September 17th, during our Time of Learning & Fellowship, those who are not part of a Sunday morning Bible Study will be invited to join our weekly Sunday Church Chat. These chats are based on the theme for the month.  It’s a time to explore some thought-provoking questions and, perhaps, see things from a new perspective.  Join us every Sunday in the Gathering Space for fellowship and then chat with us!

Movie Night

We’re Moving Outdoors

Join us Friday, August 25th, for our 4th Friday of the Month Movie Night.  Enjoy the great outdoors while watching a family movie under the stars.  We’ll bring the popcorn and refreshments outside. All you need to do is bring a chair or blanket!  This month’s movie is Monster Trucks, rated PG.  The movie will start at dusk, approximately at 9:30 pm.  In case of rain, the movie will be shown indoors.  Any questions or if you would like to help with this event, contact Sarah Howard at 440-503-8755.

Alpha Classes Starting

Alpha classes are slated to start on Wednesday, September 27th. The study goes for about 11 weeks.  Times will be 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm.  (Dinner at 6:00 pm, with study at 7:00 pm)  Alpha is based on the New Testament teaching of bringing friends, family, and work colleagues to meet Jesus in a non-threatening environment.  It’s an easy way to say to friends, “Come and see. Come and explore your spiritual questions.  Come and hear about Jesus.  Come and see for yourself.”  Everyone is welcome at Alpha, whether they are a church-goer or not — or even if they are a seasoned Christian and desire to have their faith strengthened.  Interested?  Mark your calendars and watch for more information coming soon.

“Simply Give”

We’ve Been Chosen

This program, that helps stock our “God’s Storehouse” food pantry, is once again being sponsored by the Maumee Meijers, on Conant Street, from Sunday, August 20th through Sunday, September 16th.  It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3.  1) Pick up a red/orange/white “Simply Give” card in the Gathering Space near the Welcome Center.  2) Take the card with you when you shop at Meijers or pick up a card at Meijers and present it to the cashier.  3) He/she will add your $10 donation to your shopping total.  That’s It!  Your $10 donation will be tallied.  At the end of the program, St. Paul’s will be given your monetary donations in the form of gift cards which we can use to restock the God’s Storehouse. The Outreach MAT would like to thank you, in advance, for helping others by your generosity!

Welcome

Sarah Howard

Please join us as we welcome Sarah Howard to St. Paul’s staff.  We are thrilled to announce that Sarah was hired as our new Director of Children’s Ministries and that she will begin on August 16th.  Both, Sarah and Pastor Tab, will be commissioned on Sunday, September 10th at the 10:30 am worship service — Sarah as Director of Children’s Ministries and Tab as Youth Pastor.

Come And Eat

Philly Steak Sale

Please mark your calendars for next Saturday and come to church to enjoy the World Famous Philly Cheese steak Sandwich and hand cut French Fries!  These sandwiches are only available once a year!  Church members will be cooking up this great food as a fundraiser during the annual Maumee Summer Fair.  Our Philly Cheese Steak sales booth will be located in the small parking lot on the west side of the church property.  Come down for good food and a great time at the fair and support our ministry programs here at St. Paul’s.

Praise Wall

Share Your Praises

We’ve heard the expression “God is good all the time”.  We know that’s true.  If you have had a prayer answered or something occurred that God had His Hand on, let us know.  Write a short sentence, phrase, or even one or two words using the cards near the wall and share the good news.  Clip your card on the Praise Wall.  Our new Praise Wall is located near the couches in the Gathering Space.

“Those who leave everything to God’s Hand will eventually see God’s Hand in everything.”

Join us on August 25th for our 4th Friday of the Month Movie Night.  Enjoy the great outdoors while watching a family movie under the starts.  We’ll bring the popcorn and refreshments outside.  All you need to do is bring a chair or blanket!  The movie that we will be showing will be announced soon.  The movie will start at dusk, approximately at 9:30 pm, and will be a family movie appropriate for all ages.  In case of rain, the movie will be shown indoors.

Saturday Stitchin’ Ladies

Join the Saturday Stitchin’ ladies as we get together to do a Thrivent Action Team project. We are making bed-size fleece blankets for the DART program.  The blankets will be donated to folks who are recovering users.  Past blanket donations have made a hug impact on the folks who need the comfort of a blanket they can call their own.  So, come help us on Saturday, August 5th, from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm and make a difference in your community. (Because this is the same day as our Flea Market, please park in the MEWS parking lot across the street and come in the Wayne Street doors.)

Come Celebrate!

National Root Beer Float Day

Celebrate National Root Beer Float Day next Sunday, August 6th, out under the parking lot canopy with us!  National Root Beer Float Day honors Frank J. Wisner’s creation which he invented in August of 1893.  Root beer floats will be served after the 10:00 am service. Be sure to stop and enjoy a cold refreshing float!  If you’d like to help with this event please contact Sarah Howard at 440-503-8755 or sarah.j.howard5@gmail.com.

What is a Steward?

In Luke 12:42, Jesus says, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household?  The steward is all Christians.  A “Steward” is defined as a ‘a person employed as a custodian, manger or administrator of a household’ (see also 1 Corinthians 4:1-2).  Genesis 1:1 says “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”  Thus, everything around us was created by God, so it is His.  We need to remember that everything we think of as ‘ours’ really belongs to God.  He blesses us by allowing us to use His things for our work for His kingdom as well as our sustenance and pleasure.  (See also Genesis 1:2-31, Psalm 95:4-5, Psalm 24:1-2, John 1:1-3, Ephesians 3:9; 5:16, Colossians 1:16, 2 Timothy 1:6; 2:15 & Revelation 4:11; 10:6)

What are your plans this Friday?

Food Truck Friday’s

St. Paul’s Activities Tent

Every Friday through September, the MUBA hosts “Food Truck Friday’s” in the parking lot to the side of St. Paul’s, from 5:00-8:00 pm.  Wouldn’t it be great for St. Paul’s to be contributing to this event by offering the kids and families in our community an Activities Tent?

We are looking for help in making our Activities Tent a success. Volunteers and ideas are needed!  Visit the Gathering Space or contact Sarah Howard at sarah.j.howard5@gmail.com or 440-503-8755.  What a great way to meet people in our community and share the giving spirit of St. Paul’s with them!
